Spring Cleaning Spruces Up Local Highways

IMAG0566On Saturday, April 26, Give Back Cincinnati teamed up with two other local groups – Keep Cincinnati Beautiful and ODOT – for the State Roadway Cleanup.

Volunteers spent the warm, sunny day targeting several highway sites around the city, from I-75 and I-71 to Route 50, Route 52 and beyond. They worked on graffiti removal, litter cleanup, brush clearing and general landscape beautification.

Volunteers were able to pick up 758 trash bags of litter, 255 tires, 3 shopping carts and 2 couches, which translates to approximately 12-13 tons worth of debris!

After spiffing up the highway sites, volunteers met for some hard-earned refreshments at MadTree Brewing. Volunteers enjoyed their signature craft beers, free brewery tours and food truck fare.

Finally, a big thank you to our partners and sponsors for the event, Xavier University, The University of Cincinnati, FastSigns, Lori O’Brien Sibcy Cline and Currito!
