Hands-On: Can You Dig It?

*EVENT RESCHEDULED FOR MAY 5, 2018*

Hands-On: Can You Dig It? event, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 7, will take place on Saturday, May 5. All other details, including time (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.), remain the same. A new registration form has been added below; anyone registered before 4/10/18 must reregister to ensure their spot at the event. If you are unsure whether you are registered or not, please reach out to Membership Director Ethan Litvin at membership@givebackcincinnati.org.

Time to get to work! Can you dig it?

On Saturday, May 5, we will partner with Price Hill Will to help beautify three of their largest community gardens, including Turner Farm, Roberts Academy and LPH Gardens.

The Price Hill Recreation Center will serve as our home base for the day! From there, volunteers will split off into three groups to tackle each garden (located two miles or less from the Rec Center; transportation will be provided).

What are the tasks at hand? Great question. Volunteers at each garden will create new garden beds, lay out soil and seed, harvest crops, and pull weeds. Each garden may also include additional maintenance work.

What to bring: Comfortable clothing that you’re not afraid to get dirty in. We will provide both gloves and tools prior to the start of the day.

Sign-in and registration will begin at 8 a.m. sharp at the Rec Center, along with breakfast (bagels and coffee)! We will have Chick-fil-a delivered for lunch (vegetarian options available) and we will hold an afterparty following the event at Veracruz Mexican Grill (within walking distance!). As always, the first drink is on us.

    Hello,
My name is Keith Chasse and I’m the founder and president of UConn Cincinnati Alumni Network. We are looking to participate in a volunteer event during the month of April as part of the “UConn Cares” initiative. Can you give me some more details about your event that you’re planning for April 7? Is there a contact person that UConn could coordinate with?

      Hi, Keith!

Thanks for your interest in this event and for reaching out. We are still ironing out the details, but we will send more information out through our newsletter and registrant listserv as we get closer to April. Please reach out to Jen Quarford (events@givebackcincinnati.org) in the meantime, who coordinates our Hands-On events, and will be happy to help you coordinate your group!

      Thank you,
      Trevor

    Hello,
I just registered for this event, and right after I registered, it said the event was sold out. Is there any chance my friend can come, because we were supposed to volunteer together; but I couldn’t register us at the same time?
    Thanks,
    Chloe

Make sure to resubmit your registration if you can make it, and there should be open spots for your friend as well! Please let me know if you and your friend have any issues registering.
